Easy recipe steps:
1. Optional one day in advance: cut ham crosswise and place in marinade of oil + Louisiana Rub overnight.
2. Light the BBQ and use indirect heat and a temperature of 170 degrees C.
3. Add the smoking wood as soon as the fire goes out.
4. Optional: Grill the ham until a core temperature of 65 degrees is reached. Let cool.
5. Cut the crusts from each slice of casino bread and then roll the bread flat with a rolling pin.
6. Cut 8 strips of cheese and ham of approximately 2 x 2 x 8 cm. These should be approximately as long as the bread slices are wide. Brush the slices of bread with mustard.
7. Place a strip of cheese + a slice of ham on the end of each slice of bread. Roll up the bread slices so that the cheese is wrapped. Then wrap each bread roll in 2 slices of bacon.
8. Is the BBQ up to temperature? Then place the sandwich rolls on the grill and close the BBQ with the lid. Now cook the rolls for about 3 minutes per side. So a total of 12 minutes.
9. After 6 minutes, brush them all over with Mustard & smoke BBQ sauce and cook the rolls for another 6 minutes. The rolls may take a little longer. You can also briefly grill them over hot coals.
10. Now remove the sandwich rolls with bacon from the BBQ and serve them immediately.
Do you serve them as a snack? Then cut each roll into thirds. Enjoy your meal!
